Memorial Day Weekend
SF Bay (All Over)
Halibut or Whatever Fishing

Launched out of Oyster Point with my Nephew Arnold at 6am. Weather Forecast for the Day called for Choppy Seas and High Winds so decided to play it safe and fish the bay today. Boated over to Pier 45 to pick up Live bait and to give my new Kodiak Bait Tank a test. We went over to the Rock Pile and met Khanh and Young Andy to try for Stripers (Nothing). Then headed over to Angel Island to drift for Halibuts (Nothing). Decided to head over to Pt. Bonita, there we saw a couple of dead whales that had washed ashore and have been there awhile (Yuck!). we met Ken Jang and crew (Fish-Go-Lure) and saw Wally just pulling in a nice 20 pound Striper and David with a nice Ling Cod. I had a striper on but broke off due to a failed knot (Crap!!!) We then saw a Zodiac Boat motor up to Ken and realized it was Fish and Game. After he was through with Ken they then headed over to us, they were just checking to make sure we had our licenses and weren't hiding anything illegal (US?? Never!) They turned out to be a couple of really cool Wardens, this was a first for me and boy was I glad we had everything in order! We motored over to another spot at Pt. Bonita and caught 5 Lings, threw back all but one. Rest were short by an inch. Caught 1 rock cod and kept that. The wave and winds started to pick up and decided to head back to berkeley flats to try for Butts again. Drift for a couple of hours, saw a few nets go down but the fish were not biting today. We than motored back to Hunters Point and drift there before calling it a day. There we boated 2 sand sharks (thrown Back), 1 nice 4 foot Leopard shark (kept) and 1 shaker halibut. Most action we've had all day. As everyone knows the Hunters Point area is great for high Winds and chop and that's what blew us off the water to call it a day at 3pm (we got soaked on the way in). Washed the boat at Oyster and went home to take a few pics of what we brought home. Not a great catch, but not skunked either.
Count for the Day 1 Ling, 1 Rock Cod, 1 Leopard Shark
All in All we had a great time!
