Picked up John at his house at 6am, Got fuel then headed over to HMB
for some fishing. We launched at 7am. The stench was still very bad in
the harbor of dead anchovies and it just made you gag when you inhaled.
We stopped short of the harbor entrance to jig for anchovies for a few
minutes then headed out again to our favorite spot. The ride was bumpy
and a slight wind was blowing. We landed 2 good size Lings and a mixed
bag of rock cods and a good size cabezon. By 10:30am it started getting
pretty snotty so we decided to head over to the red and green bouys to
drift for awhile. This time John was the one getting seasick, it was payback
for poking at me when I was sick (hehehe). Between his turtle calling and
fishing we were only picking up undersized lings and a few short hits that
didn't hold, we had tried several different spots in the area but the bite
just plain died out. we were using swim baits most of the time, guess the
anchovies we had caught earlier were just along for the ride today. We
let them all go before calling it a day at 12:30pm. no crowds at the ramp,
lot was half empty. Ran into Guy Gilchrist and his partner and heard a
few familiar names on the radio today. It was better than hanging around
the house
