Labor Day Weekend - HMB Rock and Lings
Sunday Sept 1st
6:30am Picked up john at his house and new guy Jefferson Tom.
Stopped at the Rusty Hook in Pacifica to get Jefferson's 1 day license and
some gear.
Met John's dad at Princeton and were in the water and on our way at 7:30am,
The Fog was really thick and drizzly on the way out and stayed that way most
of the morning
We made it to our fishing spot by GPS as we couldn't see a thing. It was flat
calm
The fog had lifted but stuck around most of the day except for an occasional
sighting
of the sun which was trying to break through but never did. We caught 3 lings
of one
was a keeper we lost count as to how many Cabezons we caught and released.
Boxed A
nice red, several Browns, and good size Blues. All were caught on swim baits.
Called it a day at 2pm. Jefferson and I spent most of the morning fighting
off the chucking
fairy as this was his first time out. and I have no excuse other then I couldn't
help but be seasick.
Everyone brought home fish and we had fun. Washed the boat and parked at 4pm.
Monday Sept 2nd
John met me at my house at 6am, we stopped by the Rusty hook again for misc
gear. and I when out
again in Princeton for a day to ourselves. we were on the water and on our
way
to normal fishing spot at 7:30am. It started out slow, with only one Brown
in the box and listening
to the salmon bite over at montera, we picked up for a couple of hours of
trolling.
We caught one shaker and had a few hits but none stuck at all. Wasn't our
day for salmon.
Saw a few nets go down being netted, mostly small salmons.
By 11am John and decided to back to Rock and Lings and stopped by the light
house
and fished there till 1pm then stopped again at the radar station. saw a few
boats fishing the Mavericks
as it was a totally flat day and clear with a slight breeze which made for
a perfect
fishing day. As we got back to the ramp it was a cluster F**K. Boats that
were out tuna fishing
and everyone else all decided to come back in all at once. But the wait wasn't
bad.
Total count for the day 3 Lings, 5 browns, 1 red and tons of Cabezons which
we had to throw all back.
All were caught on Swim Baits. Who said there was a shortage!!! They do fight
well
and so do the lings. Had a blast, and as usual great company and hope to do
it again
soon. What a stress reliever!
